If you suspect you may have a sleep disorder talk to your doctor.
Diagnosis involves a visit to your doctor and/or sleep specialist, and usually a simple, non-invasive overnight test at home (oximetry).
CanSleep Services offers overnight oximetry testing at no charge to patients.
Oximetry involves a small device (monitor) with a finger clip (probe) that is placed on the index finger.
The oximeter records a patient's blood pulse oxygen levels while asleep. Patients who experience apneas (or periods of time where they stop breathing) deprive their body of oxygen. The oximeter records the severity and length of apneas experienced during sleep.
