This 1 hour workshop will offer up some ideas and parenting strategies specifically geared towards your children and the cyberworld of communication. October 27, 2011 - 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Sean Heales

Topic: The Goals of Misbehaviour

As parents, children can challenge us at the best of times and unfortunately, children do not come with any manuals! Children behave differently for a variety of reasons. In some instances, this is their way of communicating with us. Unfortunately, the behaviours themselves can create stress, anger, or emotional pain for the parent. This 1 hour course, based on the STEP parenting program will help identify the 4 categories of behaviours common in children, shed some light on how to understand why the behaviour may be occurring, and offer some insight into how to recognize and parent differently to help your child through these periods of emotion and ultimately reduce the stress and pain for the parent. Space is limited for this workshop so please ensure to sign up early

November 3, 2011 - 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Dr. Richard Smyth

Topic: Top Surgeries to Treat Sleep Apnea; Is surgery right for you?

November 17, 2011 - 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Sean Heales

Topic:  Sleep and Your Mental Health

Sleep is an essential component to our physical health. What many do not realize is that it is also essential for achieving good mental health as well. As life becomes more complex and busy, sleep often takes a back-seat to other day to day responsibilities. Without proper rest to recharge our bodies and minds, you may be more prone to decreased mental health. This 1 hour workshop will offer some tips on how to ensure you can maximize the full benefits of a healthy sleep and maintain good mental health as a result. In this workshop, we will discuss good bed-time routines as well as proper "sleep-hygiene".  There are limited seats for this workshop so ensure you book your spot early.
